PATRICK RIMOUX
NOTRE DAME DE PARIS
24/01/2025- 22/03/2025
After taking part in the prestigious restoration project of Notre-Dame de Paris by designing the cathedral’s entire interior lighting, Patrick Rimoux presents sixteen monumental works celebrating its architecture and its representations in the history of cinema.
From the 1911 silent film “Notre Dame de Paris” by Albert Capellani to “Antonieta” starring Isabelle Adjani in 1982, and “Paris brûle-t-il” featuring Jean-Paul Belmondo, cinema has long dreamed of the Parisian cathedral.
Patrick Rimoux extends this tribute by enhancing the film reels, some of them mythical, between meticulously painted and sandblasted glass panels. Assembled through a complex process that he alone has mastered and adorned with architectural motifs, the artist’s panels combine faithful quotations with imaginary structures inspired by the rose windows, vaults, and columns of Notre-Dame.
