We met the artist in the 90s through his master Leonardo Cremonini, when Galerie Dionne still existed. In 1996, we exhibited a large selection of his paintings. On rue des Saints Pères, he attracted some of the world’s leading collectors. In 2018, Galerie Minsky, which was inaugurated as a continuation of Galerie Dionne, curated the first major retrospective of Édouard Sacaillan. We were given carte blanche to take over the monumental Richaud space in Versailles.
Since the 1980s, Édouard Sacaillan’s work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in Greece and abroad, in group and solo shows. Several foundations and museums have also recognized and shown his work, including the Frissiras Museum in Athens, L’Orangerie du Sénat in Paris and the Traditional Art Foundation of Thrace. His paintings are included in the collections of the Ministry of the Economy in Paris, the National Bank of Athens and the Gérard Louis-Dreyfus Family (New York), among others.
Édouard Sacaillan is well-known for his unique take on portraiture, his famous “spectators” paintings. A brand-new series by the artist, “Les toits de Paris”, provides a new perspective on Sacaillan’s work, demonstrating his ability to create poetry through landscape.
